Sunset Bar Luzern

Hammocks strung above the water, and a sky over Pilatus that turns gold before the last boat leaves.

On the eastern shore of Lake Lucerne, beside Hotel Seeburg, the Sunset Bar occupies a stretch of lakefront with a direct view across the water toward Mount Pilatus.

Locals arrive as often as visitors, drawn by wood-fired pizza, food from the charcoal grill, and cocktails collected from a lakeside pick-up counter. Hammocks and loungers replace formal seating, built for staying rather than passing through.

Bus 24 stops directly opposite, ten minutes from Lucerne station. Boats call nearby too, at the Verkehrshaus-Lido landing, or several days a week at a few hundred metres from the bar. Visitors arriving by their own boat can moor for free and order without setting foot on land.

The food draws a crowd, but what people stay for is the light over the water as the evening wears on.
